Thoughts for this Labor Day (2016)

Posted by in Commemoration/Celebration | September 05, 2016

Two observations and a promise regarding labor on this Labor Day.

 Observation #1

Unless the LORD builds the house,

those who build it labor in vain.

Unless the LORD watches over the city,

the watchman stays awake in vain.

(Psa 127:1)

Observation #2 – A Call from the Old Testament

 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,

and your labor for that which does not satisfy?

Listen diligently to me,

and eat what is good,

and delight yourselves in rich food.

Incline your ear, and come to me;

hear, that your soul may live;

and I will make with you an everlasting covenant…

(Isa 55:2-3)

The  Promise – From the New Testament

“Come to me,

all who labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.”

Promised by Jesus Christ

(Mat 11:28)

Come and worship the God who gave us the ability and strength to labor.

so that we labor not in vain,

but to labor for the good of all

and find our rest in Him.

Happy Labor Day
